Gabby’s Dollhouse: Laila Lockhart Kraner Interview
Gabby’s Dollhouse!
If you have preschool-age kids in your house then you have probably heard of Gabby’s Dollhouse. It is a super cute show on Netflix that follows Gabby and her stuffed animal friend Pandy Paws. They shrink down and get animated to go into Gabby’s Dollhouse where they go on tons of adventures. (The show incorporates a Growth Mindset curriculum which I love.) In January my daughter and I got the chance to interview creators Traci Paige Johnson and Jennifer Twomey of Gabby’s Dollhouse and learned a lot of behind-the-scenes information about the show. (You can read and watch our interview HERE.) This time my daughter, Em, got the chance to interview Laila Lockhart Kraner who is Gabby! Continue reading below to learn all about our interview prep, and to watch my daughter’s interview! Gabby’s Dollhouse is out now on Netflix!
How we prepped for my daughters interview with Laila Lockhart Kraner
When Em learned she was going to be able to interview Laila she was so excited because Gabby’s Dollhouse is one of her favorite shows right now. I asked her if she wanted to do the interview and explained what the process was, how it goes, and I asked if it was ok to post to my blog. She thought about it and said she wanted to do the interview, and that she was ok with me writing about it.
Right away she got to work thinking of all the questions she wanted to ask Laila. So, I sat down with her and talked through and wrote down all of the questions she had for Laila. As a parent, I was pretty impressed with the variety of questions she had considering her age. (My daughter is 5-years-old.) Em wanted to know why Laila decided to become an actor, what it was like on set, what her favorite episode was, what did Laila hope kids would learn from Gabby’s Dollhouse, and more!
After we put together the questions we worked a little bit every day on how to ask them. We would sit down and practice openings, she would ask me the questions and I would respond. We would then practice saying thank you after a question was asked. As we got closer to the interview she did come to me and tell me she was getting a little nervous. I told her I understood, and that I get nervous before I do interviews as well, and that’s ok. It is ok to get nervous. I gave her a hug and asked what she wanted to do. She said practice some more.
The day of the interview
On the day of the interview, we practiced some more, and when the time came to interview Laila Em was ready. (I did have to help some, but she did an amazing job!) I am so proud of Em and she is super proud of herself, as she should be. After the interview, she even joked she would take my job! Haha! She loves to talk about and show everyone her interview, and will stop and point out her favorite part where she makes a joke about her sister. Haha! You can watch Em’s whole interview below, and she hopes you enjoy it!
