The Eyes of Tammy Faye: Jessica Chastain Shines

Growing up I attended a small church and sometimes at home the 700 Club would play on the TV. It wasn’t till I was older that I discovered there were some churches out there that were huge. I am talking about thousands of people attending each service. (My church was lucky to get 20-30 people at a service.) I was also older when I learned how much some of these mega church pastors made, and do I have some personal feelings on that. (Whew!) Watching SearchLight Pictures‘ The Eyes of Tammy Faye really brought these feelings back, but I love the movie so much and I am excited to say it is out on digital NOW and on Blu-ray and DVD on November 16, 2021.

My Review

While The story of The Eyes of Tammy Faye brought out a lot of feelings I must say Jessica Chastain is amazing in this movie. You can actually only tell it is her during 1/3 of the movie. Her performance just draws you in and you forget it is her. Of course, helping is the amazing makeup and prosthetics that were used to help transform her to look like Tammy Faye. But Jessica is stunning.

As for the story, oh man, it had me feeling every which way. Going into the movie I did not know much about the Bakkers, but while watching the movie I was rooting for Tammy and I was angry at how she was treated, and how her husband swindled people. While The Eyes of Tammy Faye may not be entertaining for everyone I think it is intriguing and spectacular. I give it an A-! Definitely worth a watch in my opinion, and you can read all about the bonus features below.
