Stillwater on AppleTV+: Review

Sometimes when you take a chance you strike gold…

That is how I feel about Stillwater, coming to AppleTV+ on Friday, December 4, 2020. There are a lot of movies and shows always coming out, and as a working mom, I do not have enough time to review or post about them all. (I wish I could. Haha!) Every once in a while I get an email for a show or movie that I am on the fence about and I sit on it a little while and try to really decide if I am going to review it. Well, I did that with Stillwater, but I am so glad I decided to watch a preview of it and to review it. It’s so good! I was not expecting it to be as good as it is. If you have AppleTV+ I highly recommend it. Here’s why.

Stillwater Review

So, I have the synopsis of the show below, but the main gist of the show is about a couple of children who befriend their neighbor, Stillwater. (He is a Panda.) Through their friendship, Stillwater teaches the children about Zen through stories, friendship, and also how to deal with situations in life. The animation is beautiful, and it is hard to take your eyes away from it. My 2-year-old previewed Stillwater with me and she loved it. The episode we watched focused on not giving up and mindfulness. The episode had a part where it asked you to stop and breathe, look around and just be in the moment looking at things.

My 2-year-old did this. Haha! I was very surprised. After we were done watching she wanted to watch more. It is a different kind of kid’s show. It’s not loud. It’s soothing and relaxing. I don’t think I have ever described a kids show as soothing or relaxing. Haha! (I didn’t think that was possible.) We just introduced Yoga to my 5-year-old as a way to help her focus/relax, and I think I will add either Stillwater before or after her Yoga time just as a little extra. A Bonus is that Stillwater has some Yoga poses to practice Mindfulness along with books that the show is based on! You can check them all out HERE. Stillwater is rated Y7, but younger kids can watch it. If you have kids and AppleTV+ I highly recommend Stillwater.

If you end up watching Stillwater I would love to know how you like it. Let me know in the comments.
